This is your opportunity to join Deloitte's growing EFT team that sits in Strategy, Risk & Transaction Advisory (“SRTA”). You will work on high-profile assignments with some of the best in the field, across a wide variety of transactions covering equity capital markets, corporate mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, within a highly commercial, client-focused environment.

Our EFT team brings together qualified accountants and transaction specialists who support clients through complex equity capital markets and M&A processes. The role will focus primarily on finance-led transaction support, including M&A Finance, complex financials and equity capital markets work, while also providing exposure to the broader EFT platform.

  • M&A Finance assist services, providing hands-on support for finance functions in preparing for, managing and resolving significant finance demands associated with the M&A process through strong technical knowledge;
  • Complex financials assist services on carve-out or combination transactions, providing end-to-end financials preparation, validation and process support;
  • Equity capital markets assist services to support companies to execute capital markets transactions across the globe;
  • Transaction readiness assist services to support companies in preparation for capital markets transactions;
  • Controls and governance equity capital markets assurance services for companies engaging in public company transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, mergers and IPOs; and
  • Transaction Management Office assist services, working alongside senior client stakeholders and other deal advisers to help coordinate and manage large and complex transactions from inception through to delivery.

Within EFT, you will primarily focus on finance-led transaction support across domestic and international transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, IPOs, mergers and demergers. This will include M&A Finance, complex financials and ECM-related work, with opportunities to support wider EFT propositions where relevant.

Typically, we operate alongside colleagues, providing our clients with a multi-disciplinary and end-to-end transaction assist service which accesses Deloitte’s vast range of specialist expertise including M&A Tech, M&A People, merger integration or separation, modelling and analytics. We regularly work on international assignments involving cross-border as well as cross-service line teams, requiring our people to build wide networks across both the UK and international firms.

On EFT transactions, as well as working closely with management teams, we also work alongside other advisers including investment banks, lawyers, PR advisers and the capital markets regulator, the FCA, providing members of the EFT team with excellent exposure to the wider transaction and adviser network.

This role involves significant exposure to and interaction with senior client stakeholders, so a desire to work in a client engagement environment is essential. Your responsibilities will vary by project and are unique to each transaction; however, the key skills below give some insight into what the role will entail.

Essentials:

  • ACA qualified or equivalent qualification
  • Significant experience in M&A, across both private and public transactions
  • Experience leading teams and managing workstreams in complex transaction environments
  • Strong technical accounting and finance track record
  • Broad financial and commercial experience, having demonstrated achievement within either a professional services or corporate organisation
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation, internally and externally, including experience drafting and presenting finance Board documents and Audit Committee papers
  • Experience supporting finance functions through transaction readiness, execution and completion
  • Experience in complex financials, carve-out, combination or separation environments
  • Understanding of finance operating models, finance processes and controls in a transaction context
  • Experience working with senior finance stakeholders, including CFOs and finance leadership teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and market awareness
  • Strong client focus, with a commitment to high-quality service delivery
  • Full travel mobility

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience in at least one of the following industries: consumer goods, energy and resources, industrials, technology and media, financial services, or life sciences
  • Experience in industry (either as full-time employment or an extensive secondment) – within a finance role or working alongside CFOs/finance functions as a key finance business partner
