Assistant Director of Law - House Counsel
The Department of Law for the City of Cleveland seeks a transactional and legislative attorney for the Department’s House Counsel Section to provide legal counsel to the Director of Law and various City departments and offices, including Finance, Public Safety, Capital Projects, Human Resources, Innovation & Technology, Aging, Equal Opportunity, Prevention, Intervention & Opportunity, and the Cleveland Municipal Court and Clerk’s Office. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, management agreements, real estate instruments, legislation, codified ordinances and other legal documents; performing legal research and code review; and working with City committees, boards and commissions among other duties. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court. Strong academic credentials and writing skills are necessary along with a willingness to work collaboratively. Knowledge of contract, construction, real estate, regulatory, financial, bankruptcy and municipal law is preferred.
