About Us
Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Oxfordshire County Council are transforming support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are building a team of health and education professionals (Experts at Hand) to provide earlier intervention and stronger inclusion in schools settings, providing practical support where it is needed, and helping children and young people receive the right support, at the right time. By sharing your expertise and working collaboratively with colleagues across organisations, you'll play a key role in improving outcomes for children, families, and schools across Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire Educational Psychology Service EPS is committed to promoting the inclusion of all children and young people, raising achievement and narrowing the gap for vulnerable groups through early intervention and multi-agency working. The EPS provides Experts at Hand early intervention, alongside statutory support for education, health and care needs assessments, to secure psychological support for children and young people.
About the Role
We are recruiting to our team of Assistant Educational Psychologists within the EPS to support the support delivery of our Experts at Hand (EaH) model and existing programmes of work. These include early intervention work with children and young people (group and individual work) and projects/training offered by the service, such as the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Training and supervision programme, and our programme of Webinars for schools. The main role of the Assistant Educational Psychologists will be to work alongside EP and EaH multi-disciplinary colleagues in applying psychology to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEN and additional educational needs.

This post is intended for aspiring Educational Psychologists and offers excellent preparation for application to Educational Psychology Doctorate training programmes. Assistant Educational Psychologists receive regular supervision from qualified Educational Psychologists, opportunities to develop assessment, consultation and intervention skills, and guidance to support future applications for professional training.
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.

About you
We are seeking enthusiastic and creative psychology graduates with experience of working with children and young people in an educational and/or mental health context to join a supportive, friendly service.
Applications are welcomed from psychology graduates (with a 2:1 or above) or a Masters in Psychology. The psychology qualification must confer Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). Applicants will have at least 2 years relevant full-time equivalent experience of working with children/young people, parent/carers and professionals. Requests for part-time work will be considered.

Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall. If this is applicable to you, you will be notified, but no reimbursement will apply in respect of travel.
