Assistant Employers Agent/Project Manager

Location: Cambridge/Hybrid
Hours: 35

The Role and Responsibilities

You’ll provide support to the existing small team of 9 Employer’s Agents / Project Managers in project delivery. As an Assistant you’ll learn ‘on the job’ experience by shadowing more senior members of the group and taking responsibility for day-to-day tasks - depending on experience and confidence (with suitable support/training from the wider group).

The role offers a structured development pathway, providing exposure to all stages of the project lifecycle including procurement, contract administration, stakeholder management, risk management, programme monitoring, and commercial reporting. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will support your technical and professional development, enabling you to build the skills and competencies required to progress towards a Senior Employer's Agent role.

The position is particularly suited to candidates working towards professional chartership through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). You will receive support in gaining relevant experience across the APC competency framework, including mentoring from chartered professionals, regular progress reviews, and opportunities to take on increasing levels of responsibility. As your experience grows, you will be encouraged to lead elements of project delivery, develop client-facing skills, and establish yourself as a trusted project adviser, creating a clear route for career progression within the team and wider business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assisting with:
    • Taking meeting notes and minute preparation.
    • Reviewing drawings, against the contractual requirements.
    • Handover procedures including checking documentation against contractual requirements and inspections of completed units on site.
    • Reviewing contractors’ applications for payment.
    • Issuing of contractual notices during the construction period.
    • Preparation of and updating information tracker documents using Microsoft Excel.
    • Undertaking end of the defect liability inspections of properties (usually whilst occupied) and compiling a schedule of any defects identified.
    • Digital filing.
    • Shadowing senior members of the team, both within the office environment and also on construction sites.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
