Assistant Engineer / Principal Inspector
South Wales (Hybrid) | 2 Days WFH | 6 Month Rolling Contract | £DOE p/h
I'm currently supporting a Local Authority looking to appoint an experienced Assistant Engineer / Principal Inspector to join their Structures Team on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Principal Inspections of bridges and highway structures
- Carry out site inspections and condition assessments
- Prepare inspection reports and recommend remedial works
- Support the delivery of minor maintenance and improvement schemes
- Site supervision of contractors and works on site
- Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and internal departments
- Assist with scheme preparation, procurement and project coordination
- Provide technical input relating to structures maintenance and asset management

Requirements
- Previous Local Authority / Council experience
- Experience undertaking Principal Inspections and/or structures inspections
- Background in bridges, structures or civil engineering
- Site supervision experience
- Experience managing contractors and reviewing works on site

Contract Details
- South Wales based
- Approx. 2-3 days per week carrying out inspections/site visits
- 2 days per week WFH
- 37 hours per week
- 6 month rolling contract
- Inside or Outside IR35 considered
- Rate negotiable depending on experience
