Assistant Engineer (Test Engineering) - Renfrew
Altrad is currently seeking an Assistant Engineer (Test Engineering) to join their team in Renfrew.
Key Deliverables
- Assist with the production of Test and Equipment Qualification technical tenders that meet customer requirements, with clear capture strategies and delivery on time and budget.
- Support the Project Lead on Test and Equipment Qualification contracts, ensuring all technical and project requirements are managed, addressed, and delivered safely within budget.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, Safe Setting to Work Toolbox talks, and oversee project activities carried out by other Asset Management functions.
- Provide support in the field of Testing and Equipment Qualification in support of the Department’s activities.
- Interpret client project requirements and assist with specifying test rig set-up, instrumentation, and data acquisition needs to fulfill contractual agreements.
- Assist with the concept design and subsequent calculations on bespoke test rigs fabricated within the department to carry out component testing contracts.
- Assist with the project management of allocated TEQ projects to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget completion.
- Assist with the negotiation of and capturing of any contractual variations to the original defined work scope.
- Ensure that all test contracts are professionally presented and always fit for visitor viewing.
- Stop any work being carried out within bay/lab environments which is deemed not in line with the standards expected.
- Assisting with Test and Equipment Qualification projects.
- Preparation of Control of Work and project documentation including Safe Systems of Work.
- Taking part in toolbox talks and project kick-offs.
- Liaison with other Asset Management functions as required to ensure timely completion of projects by SQEP personnel.
- Basic structural/concept design and calculation of bespoke basic test rigs required to carry out Department contract.
- Specification of instrumentation and data acquisition test set-up to meet client test programme requirements.

Basic Requirements
- BEng 2.1 (Hons) in an appropriate discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- MEng in an appropriate discipline.
Experience
- Some experience in a technical position is desirable.
- Understanding of Mechanical Engineering Principles.
- Awareness of Codes, Legislation, Company standards, and QHSE procedures.
- Basic Commercial awareness.
- Creative and innovative skills.
- Basic technical report writing skills.
- Effective communication.
- Excellent team working skills.
