Deputy Operations Manager | Nottingham
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, Project Manager or Senior Engineer ready to take the next step into operational leadership?
I'm working with a fantastic business looking for a Deputy Operations Manager to support the Area Manager across engineering operations, project delivery, customer relationships and team leadership.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be involved in projects, people, customers, engineering solutions and commercial delivery rather than being stuck behind a desk.
A little about the company…
I've worked closely with this business over the last 12 months as they've continued to grow and expand, successfully recruiting six people across different departments, all of whom are still with the business and have nothing but positive things to say about their experience. I've got to know the hiring manager well during that time, and they're genuinely approachable, have a great sense of humour and are brilliant to work with. It's always nice to recruit for a business where you can confidently speak about the people and culture from your own experience!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
