Looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Estimator / Cost Planner to join our pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a leading construction environment and gain valuable experience working on technically complex, high profile major projects £250m+ over a range of sectors.
Working alongside experienced Estimators, Senior Estimators and the wider pre-construction team, you will support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates from early-stage budgets through to tender submission.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, develop your commercial and technical understanding, and build a strong foundation for progression within estimating and pre-construction.

- Assist with the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules and other tender information.
- Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with measuring quantities and producing take-offs.
- Input and maintain accurate estimating and cost information.
- Support the preparation of bills of quantities, cost plans and tender documentation.
- Carry out cost comparisons and assist with identifying potential savings and value-engineering opportunities.
- Work closely with Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, Design Managers and the wider project team.
- Assist with maintaining and updating cost databases and benchmark information.
- Attend tender and pre-construction meetings where required.
- Help ensure estimates are accurate, commercially competitive and submitted within agreed deadlines.

Assistant Estimator / Assistant Cost Planner requirements
- 4+ years experience in estimating or cost planning with a tier 1 main contractor
- Experience across the commercial sectors, on projects £50m+ ideally
- The ability to manage multiple tenders while working to strict deadlines.
- Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline is desirable.
