We are looking for a brilliant events operator to own every event at The Exhibit, from corporate away days and meetings to birthdays, weddings and big celebrations, from the moment a booking is confirmed to the moment the guest books their next one.
The role
Three quarters of our business is pre-booked, so events are the heart of The Exhibit. As our Events Led Assistant Manager, you will be the one person who owns each event end to end. You will take the handover from our events team, plan it to the last detail, set up the room and the tech, host the event, whether it is a daytime away day or an evening celebration, and look after the guest so well that they come back and bring friends.
No two events are the same: one day it is a corporate away day, the next a wedding celebration or a milestone birthday, so you will need to adapt your style to every kind of guest. You will work side by side with our Events Team and General Manager, and you will be the person everyone trusts to make sure nothing gets missed.

What you will do
- Own every event from confirmation to follow-up, across everything from corporate away days to weddings and milestone birthdays, making sure every step of the guest journey is perfect
- Plan and run room set-up, AV and tech, timings and suppliers for each event
- Host the event, day or evening: meet the guest, become their best friend, and solve problems before they see them
- Lead the team on shift to deliver warm, polished, professional service
- Follow up after every event to secure repeat business and referrals
- Work closely with the Events Team and GM on handovers, briefs, and forward planning
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as an events-led Assistant Manager, Events Manager or Events Operations Manager in a bar, restaurant, hotel or venue
- Someone who is exceptionally organised and lives in the detail: the Girl Guide of events, always prepared, with a plan for everything
- Confident with tech and room set-ups, and calm when things change
- A natural host who builds real relationships with guests and adapts easily to any client, from corporate teams to personal celebrations
- A strong team leader who is hands-on and leads by example
- Comfortable working closely with sales and management teams

Hours
Full-time, working a mix of daytime and evening events, with a finish no later than 11pm

For over 26 years, The Exhibit has been the place Balham comes to celebrate. Birthdays, brand launches, Christmas parties, weddings and everything in between: if it matters, it happens here. We are a legendary events venue with a loyal following, a reputation for giving our guests a damn good time, and a calendar that is already full of people who trust us with their big nights.
And we are just getting started. In 2027 The Exhibit is getting a major refurbishment and relaunch, and you could be the events lead who helps shape it. This is a rare chance to join an established, growing business at the most exciting moment in its history.
