Are you an experienced Facilities or Maintenance Manager who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment? Can you lead contractors, engineers, and facilities teams while maintaining the highest safety and compliance standards? Do you enjoy solving problems, delivering projects, and making a real impact on site performance every day?
Here at GXO, we’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Facilities Manager to join our site in Wynyard. You will lead all aspects of maintenance and facilities operations across our busy distribution site. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our warehouse, office, and welfare facilities remain safe, compliant, and operating efficiently to support our high-performing operations.
This is a full-time, permanent position. You will work Monday to Friday, 08:00 till 17:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, and 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Lead all electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance activities across the site, ensuring operational continuity
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules, reducing downtime and improving site performance
- Oversee contractor management, ensuring all works are completed safely, compliantly, and to a high standard
- Manage statutory inspections, compliance activities, and safety testing to maintain legal and company standards
- Coordinate facilities and maintenance projects, supporting the General Manager with improvement initiatives and future investment plans
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- NVQ Level 4, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Facilities Management or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
- Proven experience within a Facilities Management, Engineering, or Maintenance leadership role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage technical teams and external contracts effectively
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions
