Assistant Finance Manager

Here at GXO, we're recruiting for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our GXO Direct Transport Services finance team at Central Square. This is a full-time, permanent role, working 37.5 hours across Monday to Friday, where you'll support the Finance Manager in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and providing proactive commercial insight across a multi-site operation. Working closely with operational teams, senior leadership and key customer stakeholders, you'll play an important role in understanding financial performance, supporting decision-making and continually improving processes across the finance function.

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Support the preparation of accurate daily, weekly and monthly financial reporting, providing clear commentary and analysis while ensuring internal and customer submissions are delivered on time and in full
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support payroll, agency and other key financial reconciliations, proactively identifying risks, opportunities and movements between expected and actual results
- Partner with operational teams and senior stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insight, recommendations and challenge that support effective commercial and operational decision-making
- Support budgeting and reforecasting activities, maintaining financial models and analysing performance to ensure robust financial planning across projects and operational areas
- Work closely with the Finance Manager on customer reporting and meetings, continuous improvement initiatives and financial governance, stepping up to represent the Finance Manager when required
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- AAT qualified and part or fully qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA, with demonstrable experience in a similar finance role within distribution, logistics or another complex operational environment
- Strong FP&A and analytical capability, with a forensic approach to numbers and the confidence to investigate financial and operational issues and translate findings into meaningful insight
- Advanced Excel skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, with experience using General Ledger systems such as Oracle considered advantageous
- Strong commercial and customer focus, with experience building effective relationships, influencing stakeholders and operating confidently in a fast-moving environment
- Previous 3PL experience and knowledge of open-book environments would be advantageous, combined with strong planning, organisation and time management skills
