Role Description
The Assistant Financial Accountant is a full-time role based in Talgarth with a hybrid working arrangement, combining office-based work with some flexibility to work from home. The role involves assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining accurate ledgers, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Day-to-day tasks include:

The position also includes working with accounting software to input and verify data, responding to finance-related queries from project teams, and helping ensure compliance with internal controls and charity finance regulations. The Assistant Financial Accountant collaborates closely with the finance team to support project accounting, grant reporting, and continuous improvements to financial processes.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Finance and Financial Reporting, with the ability to assist in producing accurate and timely management information.
- Experience with Financial Statements, including supporting the preparation of income and expenditure reports and balance sheets.
- Proficiency in Accounting Software and related financial systems, with good data entry and reconciliation skills.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills, including attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to interpret financial data.
- Relevant qualification or training in accounting or finance (e.g., AAT level, part-qualified accountant, or equivalent experience).
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with non-finance colleagues.
- Organized and able to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Interest in the charity sector, environmental conservation, or not-for-profit finance is an advantage.
