URGENT REQUIREMENT - PART TIME, 3 days/week. Based in Worthing
Woodland Partners are working with this global Reinsurance group to source a part-time Assistant Financial Accountant. Reporting into the FC the main responsibility will be to maintain the cash books for UK companies processing all transactions in the SUN general ledger system.
The role will be based in Worthing so use of a car is imperative.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all invoices are processed and payments are made in accordance with established procedures;
- Have good relationships with respective Office Administrators and Purchasing Managers to ensure that supplier invoices and employee expenses have appropriate approval, and are paid within terms;
- Own and run an effective prepayment and accruals process for all companies;
- All intercompany and expense related balance sheet accounts are reconciled to source each month and all intergroup quarterly billings are agreed / sent and collected on a timely basis;
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and process monthly depreciation journals;
- Own and maintain the personal expense reimbursement process, ensuring compliance with the UK policy on personal expenses and semi-annual reviews of the UK travel and expense policy;
- Bring to management attention any risks or concerns around expenses, including the identification of opportunities for expense savings and/or prevention of fraud ;
- Regularly monitor the effectiveness of existing expense processes and controls ensuring the use of automation to simplify and improve process controls ;

Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a proactive and organised part-qualified accountant to support the UK Finance team. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, cashbook entries and processing, while maintaining accurate records and delivering work to agreed deadlines. Previous experience within insurance or reinsurance would be advantageous but is not essential.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Part-qualified accountant, studying towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (for example ACCA, CIMA or ACA);
- Practical experience of accounts payable, cashbook maintenance, transaction processing and general ledger entries;
- Experience of performing reconciliations and supporting month-end finance processes;
