Location: Ardencote Manor - Hiddenwell with occasional travel to Central Services, Moreton-in-Marsh

Full-Time | Permanent

Reports to: Cluster Financial Controller

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum

Estimated Start Date: 02 November 2026

The Opportunity

As Ardencote prepares for an exciting new chapter and its reopening in 2027, we’re looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team and play an important role in getting the hotel ready for reopening and supporting its ongoing financial performance.

Primarily based on site at Ardencote Hotel, you’ll work closely with our Cluster Financial Controller and operational teams to make sure excellent financial controls are established and maintained across the hotel.

This is a varied, hands-on finance role where no two days will necessarily look the same. One day you might be investigating an end-of-day revenue query or supporting a stocktake; the next, you could be reviewing payroll costs, preparing information for month end or supporting a departmental P&L review.

If you enjoy being close to the operation, building relationships with department heads and using financial information to make a real difference to business performance, this could be a great opportunity for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll support the Cluster Financial Controller across a broad range of operational and management accounting activities, including:

  • Completing daily revenue reconciliations across rooms, food and beverage, spa, leisure and other revenue streams
  • Supporting night audit and income audit processes, ensuring revenue is accurately posted, balanced and reported
  • Investigating discrepancies and working with department heads to resolve queries and variances
  • Supporting regular stocktakes and reviewing results against expected usage
  • Reviewing payroll information for accuracy and helping monitor labour costs against budget
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and departmental P&L reviews
  • Identifying trends, variances and opportunities to improve financial performance
  • Assisting with budgets, forecasts and financial planning, including throughout the lead-up to Ardencote’s reopening
  • Supporting month-end processes and helping resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Acting as a key on-site finance contact for Ardencote’s operational teams
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements
  • Getting involved in wider finance projects and improvement initiatives

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

It’s an opportunity to combine operational hospitality finance with management accounting, develop your experience alongside the Cluster Financial Controller and become an integral part of Ardencote’s reopening and future success.
