Assistant Controller
We are working with a specialty insurer to recruit an Assistant Controller to support the leadership of a high-performing finance function. This is a senior role within the controllership team, with responsibility for overseeing financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Review and support preparation of statutory financial statements and reporting
- Ensure robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations
- Support group reporting and coordination with international teams
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and insurance regulatory requirements
- Lead improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks
- Manage internal and external audit processes and key stakeholder relationships
- Oversee client money processes in line with CASS 5 regulations
- Provide leadership and guidance to finance team members
- Partner with senior stakeholders to support business performance and decision-making

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong experience within insurance, MGA, broker, or London Market environment
- Proven experience in a controllership or financial reporting role
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience managing audits and reporting cycles
- Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
