Ludus Football Group
Ludus Football Group provides individual coaching, Technical Groups, goalkeeper development and Street Baller events in York. Our approach blends structured coaching with the creativity and freedom of street football, helping players build confidence, develop their skills and enjoy the game.
As demand grows, we’re looking for enthusiastic assistant coaches to support our sessions. We also welcome students seeking a placement with practical coaching experience.
The role
You’ll work alongside our Founder and Head Coach, Ryan Coombs, supporting player development across individual and group sessions. Your responsibilities will grow with your experience and confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with planning, setting up and delivering coaching sessions.
- Support players during practices, providing clear encouragement and feedback.
- Help deliver Technical Groups and Street Baller activities.
- Adapt your support to players of different ages, abilities and confidence levels.
- Help maintain a safe, positive and organised training environment.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and communicate professionally with players, parents and fellow coaches.

Who we’re looking for
- A positive, reliable person with a passion for football and player development.
- Someone who brings energy, communicates clearly and is willing to learn.
- A team player who takes feedback on board and supports our coaching standards.
- Availability for agreed sessions, which may include evenings and weekends.
Previous coaching experience and relevant qualifications are welcome, but we’re equally interested in people beginning their coaching journey. Any appointment will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks and role requirements.

Student placements
We welcome students studying coaching, sport or related subjects who want to develop their skills through practical experience.
Placement duties, learning objectives, supervision and hours will be agreed with the student and, where relevant, their education provider. Please include any placement requirements in your application.
