We are seeking an entry-level Assistant Garment Technologist to join the Technical team based in our Royton Office in Oldham.

The Blues Group is one of the UK’s leading Apparel License suppliers. Our brands and what we do is pretty specialised. We have 5 different divisions that make up our group: Dennicci (Babywear), Blues Clothing (Toddler Daywear), Blues Nightwear (Kids & Adult Nightwear), Blues Dress up, and Brecrest (Baby & Teen Sportswear).

As a license supplier, we have the privilege to work with some amazing licenses such as Disney, Bluey, Peppa Pig & Peter Rabbit.

So, what will the role involve, and what will you do?

This position reports directly to the Senior Garment Technologist and collaborates closely with the broader Design, Sales, Production and Finance teams across our offices.

Core to the role is providing a high level of support, impeccable attention to detail and administrative skills, ensuring products are developed and manufactured to the required standards of fit, quality, construction, safety Legislation and customer compliance, maintaining the highest level of service and quality for our customers ensuring the Group standards are always met.

This is a development role designed for someone who is interested in building a career within garment technology. The role will initially have a strong focus on technical administration, sample management and supporting the day-to-day activities of the Garment Technologists, with increasing technical responsibility as knowledge and experience develop.

Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:

• Support Garment Technologists with product development from initial concept and sample stage through to production.
• Assist with the preparation, checking and maintenance of technical information, including measurement and graded specifications, construction details and measurement guides.
• Review and measure development, fit, pre-production and production samples under the guidance of the Garment Technologist.
• Prepare garments and supporting information for fit sessions, customer meetings and technical reviews, recording measurements, comments and agreed actions.
• Update specifications and technical documentation following fit comments, approvals and product amendments.
• Communicate technical comments, measurements and required amendments clearly to overseas factories under the guidance of the Garment Technologist.
• Develop knowledge of garment construction, manufacturing techniques, fabrics, components and how technical decisions can affect fit, quality, cost and production.
• Identify and escalate potential fit, construction, quality or technical issues.
• Support the review of artwork positioning, trims and components where technically relevant.
• Receive, log, organise and track samples throughout the development and production process, maintaining accurate sample records.
• Ensure samples and relevant information are available for fit sessions, customer meetings and approval stages.
• Support the team in maintaining agreed critical-path dates and follow up outstanding samples, information, reports and approvals with internal teams and factories.
• Highlight potential delays or issues that could impact customer deadlines.
• Assist with the preparation and submission of samples for customer and licensor approval where required.
• Support the technical & compliance teams in ensuring products meet applicable customer, legal, quality and product-safety requirements.
• Develop knowledge of garment and textile testing requirements, including fabric, trim and finished-product testing.
• Assist with the review and maintenance of test reports, product risk assessments and other compliance documentation.
• Develop knowledge of relevant chemical and product compliance requirements, including UK REACH where applicable.
• Escalate any potential product safety, quality or compliance concerns promptly.
• Support inspection of production and bulk garments where required.
• Support the checking of care labels, fibre composition, swing tickets, barcodes, packaging and other product information against approved customer requirements.
• Develop an understanding of customer-specific packaging and labelling standards and liaise with relevant teams where information or approvals are outstanding.
• Build effective working relationships with overseas factories, suppliers and internal teams.
• Follow up on agreed technical actions and outstanding information to support delivery against the critical path.
• Work collaboratively across Production, Design, Sales and Compliance to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
• Maintain accurate and organised technical files, specifications, reports and records, ensuring information is kept up to date on the group system.
• Provide day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Garment Technology team.
• Undertake other reasonable duties or projects appropriate to the level of the role.
