Assistant General Counsel & Assistant Company Secretary

Leading constituent of the FTSE index are looking to hire an Assistant General Counsel, who will also hold the post of Assistant Company Secretary. Please note that this position needs someone to commence by early November at the latest, and requires the postholder to be in the office 4 days per week (Central London). This is expected to be a 12 month FTC, covering maternity leave.

About the Role

Reporting into the General Counsel and enjoying direct C-suite interaction on a daily basis, this role offers the incumbent the chance to be genuinely impactful across the business. Day-to-day you will be involved in wide ranging matters which can be anything from M&A, corporate governance, risk management, shareholder governance, committee reports and whistleblowing. There will also be a key company secretarial component which is a significant feature of the role, as well as the responsibility for managing two direct reports.

  • At least 12 years' PQE
  • Previous experience of working in a PLC environment
  • Solid portfolio of company secretarial work
  • Sociable, excellent relationship-builders
  • Ability to work under pressure during points of the year where there are key deadlines
