Assistant General Manager in Hove - Brand New Club

Up to £30k (experience dependent) + bonus

Location: Hove, East Sussex.

Our client is a brand-new health and fitness destination in Hove, blending cutting-edge training with recovery facilities to create an exceptional member experience tailored to individual needs. They're looking for an energetic and ambitious Assistant General Manager to help lead the club from day one.

This is a hands-on management role within a fast-growing, independent fitness business, with genuine scope to shape the club's culture from the ground up and grow your own career alongside it. You'll work closely with the Club Manager, playing a central role in a business built around helping members love their fitness journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member experience: Support the creation of unforgettable moments every day, empowering members to smash their goals and love their journey, and champion service excellence on the gym floor.
  • Leadership on the floor: Be highly visible and approachable, setting the pace alongside the Club Manager, and inspire the team by leading through example.
  • Team development: Help build and mentor a high-performing team of Membership Associates and Personal Trainers, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Growth initiatives: Contribute to ambitious sales and retention strategies, and help drive commercial opportunities such as personal training and secondary spend.
  • Community connections: Organise and take part in local events and partnerships that raise the club's profile and build member engagement.
  • Operational excellence: Support smooth day-to-day operations through smart scheduling and high standards, and uphold brand values throughout.

  • Experience: A background in fitness management, such as Assistant General Manager, Fitness Manager, Deputy or Assistant Manager, or Sales Manager.
  • Qualifications: Level 3 Personal Trainer qualified is ideal.
  • Personality: Strong passion for fitness, energy, personality, and ambition.
  • Track record: Proven ability to deliver exceptional member experiences and support community engagement.
  • Mindset: A collaborative approach and a drive to support club growth and operational excellence.
