Reports to: General Manager

Location: The Northern Market, Leeds

Pay: £28.5k-£30k dependant on experience

Closing date: 7th September 2026

The Role

We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager to help lead the way at The Northern Market in Leeds! You’ll play a vital role in the day to day running of the bar, bringing spirit, organisation, and confidence to every shift. Whether you’re running service on a busy Saturday night, training up new team members, or jumping in to solve a problem before it even reaches the customer.

You’ll work closely with the General Manager to make sure the team feels supported, the guest experience stays consistently delightful and that the venue stays fresh! From stock and reporting to team morale and service standards, you’ll help to be part of a team that brings Northern Monk’s values to life!

Responsibilities

  • To be directly responsible for bar service, working alongside the team to provide an excellent level of service.
  • To work closely with the General Manager to set and drive bar standards.
  • To work closely with the General Manager to ensure all aspects of the day-to-day running of the venue are completed, along with the completion of weekly administrative tasks and reporting.
  • To work closely with the General Manager on menu development.
  • To liaise with the food vendors in Northern Market.
  • To take an active approach to ensuring the best possible customer experience, from brand standards to interactive engagement.
  • To take responsibility of a company email address, with all emails being responded to within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Handle booking enquiries for the event space.
  • To maintain a high level of organisation and cleanliness in the venue, through audits and closedown checks.
  • Assist with all other areas of running the venue as required.
  • Provide a superior customer service at all times, in person and via telephone calls and emails.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings when required and share best practice with colleagues.
  • Assist with organising public events.
  • Be partly responsible for the venues Instagram account. This includes, posting content, writing copy and replying to comments and direct messages.
  • Be comfortable representing the values and ethos of the company at all times.
  • Contribute to team effort by completing other tasks as needed.
