Job Description
Ready to move beyond Senior Surveyor?
Leeds, West Yorkshire | Permanent | Full-time
£42,000–£50,000 + benefits, depending on experience
You know surveying. Now it’s time to take the next step.
We’re looking for an experienced surveyor to join Met GeoEnvironmental as an Assistant Survey Manager — a role that gives you the chance to develop your management career while staying close to the technical work you enjoy.
This is about more responsibility, more influence and more opportunity to shape how projects and people succeed.
STEP UP. WITHOUT STEPPING AWAY.
You won’t be leaving surveying behind.
You’ll use your technical experience to help plan and deliver a varied programme of:
- Topographical
- Measured Building
- Monitoring
- Laser Scanning
- Setting-out
You’ll be involved from initial enquiry and quotation through to fieldwork, quality assurance and final delivery.
Along the way, you’ll build experience in project management, commercial decision-making, client relationships, quality assurance and team development.
In short: you’ll start turning your technical expertise into leadership.
EVERY PROJECT IS DIFFERENT
At Met GeoEnvironmental, surveying isn’t just about collecting data.
It’s about solving problems.
One day you could be planning a complex topographical survey. The next, reviewing a point cloud, resolving a control issue or helping a survey team deliver information that will influence a major development or infrastructure project.
And you won’t be doing it alone.
You’ll work alongside land surveyors, measured building surveyors, utility surveyors, geophysicists and GIS specialists.
That means more knowledge. More collaboration. More opportunities to broaden your expertise.
THIS IS WHERE YOU START BUILDING YOUR MANAGEMENT CAREER
We’ll Give You The Opportunity To Develop In The Areas That Matter When Moving From Senior Technical Surveying Into Management
PROJECTS
Plan programmes, allocate resources and keep projects moving.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

WHO ARE WE?
We’re a multidisciplinary geospatial business with a long track record of delivering specialist surveying services across the UK.
Established in 1990, our team of around 40 surveyors, geophysicists, technical and specialists and support staff bring this close to 5,000 characters without losing impact, I’d reduce repetition rather than flatten the distinctive style. The advert’s strongest device is the direct, candidate-focused progression story—so keep the punchy headings and short emphatic lines, but make each section earn its space.
Infrastructure | Development | Transport | Energy | Heritage | Regeneration
We bring different disciplines together to solve complex problems — and we’re looking for people who want to be part of that. We are renowned for developing great surveyors and providing clients with a quality service.
READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?
If you’re an experienced surveyor who wants more responsibility, more variety and the opportunity to develop as a leader, we want to hear from you.
Send us your CV and a covering letter explaining your surveying experience, why you’re ready to move into management and what you could bring to Met GeoEnvironmental.
