About the Role

The Assistant Geotechnical Engineer or Assistant Engineering Geologist will play a critical role in supporting dynamic projects, offering expertise in:

  • Producing professional, technically competent reports and liaising with specialists and clients
  • Preparing ground models and design parameters
  • Analysing slopes, walls, foundations, and other geotechnical structures
  • Assessing geological hazards
  • Supporting project delivery, including client liaison and coordinating across disciplines
  • Contributing to sustainability initiatives and the use of 3D data in projects
  • Conducting site-based work, supervising ground investigations and construction for transformative UK projects
  • Upskilling through a new training framework, fostering a culture of continuous learning

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Developing a fundamental appreciation of ground risk and site investigation techniques
  • Applying basic soil mechanics and geotechnical principles to design processes
  • Producing high-quality reports, analyses, and deliverables with excellent communication
  • Collaborating on ground investigation and construction supervision, supporting high-impact infrastructure projects

Requirements & Skills

We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A strong grasp of soil mechanics and engineering fundamentals
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ambition to progress towards chartered status
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
