About the Role
The Assistant Geotechnical Engineer or Assistant Engineering Geologist will play a critical role in supporting dynamic projects, offering expertise in:
- Producing professional, technically competent reports and liaising with specialists and clients
- Preparing ground models and design parameters
- Analysing slopes, walls, foundations, and other geotechnical structures
- Assessing geological hazards
- Supporting project delivery, including client liaison and coordinating across disciplines
- Contributing to sustainability initiatives and the use of 3D data in projects
- Conducting site-based work, supervising ground investigations and construction for transformative UK projects
- Upskilling through a new training framework, fostering a culture of continuous learning

Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve:
- Developing a fundamental appreciation of ground risk and site investigation techniques
- Applying basic soil mechanics and geotechnical principles to design processes
- Producing high-quality reports, analyses, and deliverables with excellent communication
- Collaborating on ground investigation and construction supervision, supporting high-impact infrastructure projects
Requirements & Skills
We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- A strong grasp of soil mechanics and engineering fundamentals
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ambition to progress towards chartered status
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
