Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team, working hand in hand with the buying team, building strong relationships with our biggest suppliers and working closely with all other functions across the Currys business to build, plan and execute the customer and commercial strategy and develop our business for future growth.
This exciting role within the New Business commercial team reports to the Senior Go to Market; you will help support developing the category strategy blueprint for the category squad. Combining customer and competitor insight along with financial imperatives to ensure the category squad develops a strategy to both maximise CSAT and EBIT. The role will act as a lynchpin between all functional representatives in the squad, pulling together annual, quarterly and in-season initiatives and activities to maximise performance. You will also arm the category buyer to negotiate adequate supplier funding support.
You will need to have good relationship building skills, working closely with the Commercial buying team, Central Planning, Brand and Marketing team, Online team, Services Team and Retail operations and use your influencing skills to secure support to drive the business forward.
Commercial acumen is a must as you will be required to support our analysis of trading performance, providing recommendations of actions to drive our business. Our ideal candidate will be organised and self-motivated in order to prioritise their work whilst having strong attention to detail to ensure everything is right first time.

Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Support the Senior GTM/GTM manager to ensure the squad adequately understands the category landscape, including customers, competitors, trends, financial performance, range performance, threats and opportunities, to support the development of the annual category strategy
- Support the Senior GTM/GTM Manager to create the blueprint for the annual category strategy, helping define the guiderails for: target KPIs (CSAT, share, EBIT, stock), customer shopping journey, category proposition and the ‘go to market’ plan
- Work with the Senior GTM/GTM manager and the central planning and brand & marketing function to develop in line with the annual events calendar the ‘Go to market’ strategy and plan for the category, supporting all briefs required for its execution.
- Support the squad in landing all major initiatives, including major new product launches, new merchandising solutions and changes to the customer journey online and in-store, liaising with relevant supporting departments to deliver right first time.
- Bringing appropriate analytics and insight from the online and customer team to support decision making related to day to day trading, events and promotions and range changes to ensure the category are making relevant data driven decisions and plans
- Co-ordinate responses to major marketing briefs across the category in appropriate templates including TV deals, home page nominations, deal lists, CRM requirements, overarching promotions e.g. trade in
- Work with peer groups to lead cross-functional delivery for all things related to customer journey including PoS, Ticket and online execution briefs.

You will need:
- Good numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
- Good planning, organisational and multitasking skills
- Can Do Attitude
- Inter-personal and communication skills, capable of working cross functionally to achieve the desired results
- Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools
- Experience of working to deadlines
- Good presentation and speaking skills
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
- Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree.
