Assistant Head of Legal Project Management

Central London, Leading Global Law Firm
£110,000 - £125,000 + excellent company benefits

An outstanding opportunity has arisen with one of the world's leading international law firms. The firm advises many of the world's largest corporations, financial institutions, and governments on highly complex, cross-border matters.

As part of its continued investment in legal innovation and client service excellence, the firm is looking to appoint a number two to the Head of LPM. This is a highly visible role, focusing on team management and development to help develop the strategy of this highly regarded legal project management team.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Head of Legal Project Management

  • Develop capability and influence change - Mentor junior and senior team members, deliver training, and help expand the firm's global Legal Project Management function.
  • Drive operational excellence - Introduce Legal Project Management best practice, improve processes, and support more efficient delivery across the firm.
  • Lead complex legal projects - Manage high-profile legal matters from planning through to delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Partner with lawyers and clients - Work closely with Partners, legal teams, and clients to improve collaboration, project delivery, and the overall client experience.
  • Manage financial performance - Oversee budgets, resource planning, and profitability, providing commercial insight throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills & Attributes of the Assistant Head of Legal Project Management

  • Legal Project Management expertise - Proven experience delivering complex legal projects within an international law firm or professional services environment.
  • Team Management experience - Demonstrable ability to develop and mentor a high-performing team.
  • Strong stakeholder management - Able to build trusted relationships and influence Partners, senior stakeholders, and clients.
  • Commercially minded - Strong understanding of budgeting, profitability, resource planning, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent project leadership - Experienced managing multiple projects using recognized project management methodologies and governance frameworks.
  • Professional qualifications - PMP, APM, or equivalent project management qualification, supported by excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
