The Governing Board of Bamford Primary School is delighted to invite applications for the newly created role of Assistant Headteacher.
Bamford Primary School is a small, thriving rural primary school situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park. We are proud to be part of The Peak Federation, working in close partnership with Grindleford Primary School to provide the very best opportunities for our pupils, staff and wider community.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Teacher who is ready to take the next step into senior leadership. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth and effective day-to-day operation of the school and will lead the school in the absence of the Executive Headteacher. The role also offers significant opportunities to contribute to, and lead on, key priorities within our Federation Improvement Plan.

- Curriculum development and leadership
- Staff leadership, coaching and mentoring
- Proven success in raising attainment and improving outcomes
- Experience across multiple key stages and/or within mixed-age classes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
