Job Title: Assistant Headteacher - SENCO

Location: Red Kite School, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0JW

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: November 2026

About the Role

We're looking for an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our dedicated leadership team and help shape an outstanding educational experience for every pupil. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader who is passionate about raising standards, developing staff and creating an inclusive environment where every young person can thrive.

As Assistant Headteacher, you'll be instrumental in delivering the school's vision and ensuring the highest standards across teaching, learning, behaviour and pastoral care. You'll work collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals to provide exceptional educational outcomes for every pupil.

You'll also lead whole-school assessment, using data intelligently to identify progress, celebrate success and implement targeted interventions that help every learner fulfil their potential.

You Will:

  • Supporting the Headteacher with the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.
  • Leading and modelling outstanding teaching and learning while maintaining a 70% teaching commitment.
  • Driving school improvement through high expectations, effective curriculum leadership and evidence-informed practice.
  • Leading the school's assessment strategy, analysing pupil progress and implementing targeted interventions.
  • Developing, coaching and performance managing teachers and middle leaders to build an exceptional team.
  • Promoting an inclusive culture where all pupils, including those with SEND, can access a high-quality education and achieve ambitious outcomes.
  • Ensuring high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, wellbeing and professional conduct across the school.
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, governors and external agencies to support pupil success.

Who We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree required
  • Successful leadership and management experience within a school.
  • A strong track record of outstanding classroom practice and improving outcomes.
  • Experience leading, developing and performance managing staff.
  • Excellent knowledge of curriculum, assessment and school improvement.
  • A thorough understanding of SEND and inclusive education.
  • The ability to motivate, inspire and build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality and promoting the highest standards of education.
  • Driving licence required

NPQSL or an equivalent leadership qualification is desirable but not essential.

Red Kite School is a brand-new, purpose-built independent SEN school, designed to support up to 60 pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
