About the Position
We are looking for an Assistant Health and Safety Consultant to join our friendly, collaborative and growing team based at our Croydon office, with occasional travel to project sites and client locations as required.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in construction health and safety, CDM and Principal Designer services, while gaining hands-on experience across a variety of construction projects.
Working alongside experienced consultants, you will support the delivery of CDM and health and safety services to clients across a range of projects and sectors.
You will gain practical experience in design risk management, CDM compliance, design reviews, project documentation and health and safety coordination, while developing your understanding of the duties and responsibilities of those involved in the design and construction process.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Health and Safety Consultant, your responsibilities will include supporting the wider consultancy team with:
- Assisting Principal Designers in fulfilling their duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Supporting the coordination and management of pre-construction health and safety information.
- Assisting with design risk reviews and identifying potential health and safety risks arising from design decisions.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and other design information to identify and communicate potential risks.
- Supporting the preparation, review and maintenance of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and Health and Safety Files.
- Assisting with the preparation of CDM and Principal Designer documentation.
- Attending design team meetings, project meetings and, where appropriate, site meetings.
- Assisting with monitoring and reviewing compliance with CDM requirements throughout the design and pre-construction stages.
- Liaising with clients, designers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Undertaking site visits where required and assisting with the identification and communication of health and safety risks.
- Keeping up to date with relevant UK health and safety and construction legislation, guidance and industry best practice.
- Maintaining accurate project records and ensuring documentation is completed to a high standard.
- Supporting the wider health and safety consultancy team as required.

Qualifications
Essential
- A sound understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
- Strong interest in developing a career in health and safety.
Desirable
- NEBOSH General certificate or willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience within health and safety.
