We are looking for an experienced part-time Assistant Health and Safety / First Aid Trainer to deliver a suite of both face to face and online courses and to work alongside the Lead Health, Safety and First Aid Trainer. Some work developing courses will also be required in conjunction with the team.
We would be willing to consider a specialist in either Health & Safety OR First Aid dependent on your skillsets.
About the Role
The Health and Safety Team provides advice to assist all service areas to comply with legislation and integrate health and safety into service planning and offers support and advice on setting standards. Delivery of training is a key element of this service.
You would be working with a dedicated and professional team who focus on the needs of our customers and prides itself on the quality and responsiveness of the service delivered.
As a member of the Health and Safety Team within Place Shaping Directorate, you will support the achievement of these key priorities, making a real difference to the staff that enhance lives of people in Shropshire.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide a health and safety advisory function across the Council.
- This function includes the provision of guidance, training, accident investigation, and the measuring and monitoring of performance.
- Contribute to and deliver a programme of initial and refresher courses as part of the health and safety training matrix for mandatory, essential and awareness purposes.
- This may include fire safety, fire warden, asbestos awareness, legionella, manual handling, lone working and personal safety, resilience, ladder safety, construction safety, workstation safety awareness, COSHH and PPE, health and safety awareness, risk assessment, evacuation chair use and health and safety management training courses and/or deliver a suite of first aid courses.
- This may include First Aid at Work, First Aid at Work refresher courses, Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and defibrillator courses.
- Support the Lead Health & Safety and First Aid Trainer by delivering and developing health and safety and/or first aid training services for Shropshire Council and client organisations, ensuring best practice and statutory compliance.

About You
- You will be a specialist in either Health & Safety OR First Aid.
- You will be experienced in delivering training both face to face and online.
- You will have a good understanding of legislation and best practices in health and safety.
