Company Description
At Potters Resorts Hopton-on-Sea, a five-star holiday resort, clean and well-presented rooms are an essential part of our guests’ stay.
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support the Executive Housekeeping Manager in leading a team of 40 across 249 rooms. Working closely with housekeeping team leaders, you’ll help manage the daily operation, maintain consistent standards and ensure rooms are ready on time.
You’ll provide clear direction, support the team leaders and take ownership of issues, deputising for the Housekeeping Manager when required. In return, we offer support, training and opportunities to develop your career within our resort.
Job Description
About the Role
- Oversee room inspections against our agreed cleanliness and presentation standards, ensuring any shortcomings are corrected before guests arrive.
- Manage daily workloads and busy changeover days, coordinating team leaders, allocating resources and monitoring progress so rooms are ready on time.
- Support and guide housekeeping team leaders, setting clear expectations, maintaining effective handovers and following up on standards and performance.
- Lead by example, remaining visible in the operation and working alongside the housekeeping team when needed during busy periods.
- Support recruitment, induction and training; coach team members and address performance or attendance concerns with the Housekeeping Manager.
- Coordinate with maintenance and reception to resolve defects, room availability issues and guest concerns, ensuring actions are followed through.
- Prepare rotas, check timesheets and plan staffing; monitor linen, stock and supplies to support cost control and keep accurate records.
- Ensure the team complete required training and follow COSHH, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, addressing unsafe practices promptly.
- Resolve housekeeping requests and complaints warmly and professionally, using guest feedback to identify and deliver improvements.

About You
- Experience leading a team in a busy housekeeping operation, at supervisory or management level, with a track record of maintaining high standards.
- A keen eye for detail, sound judgement and the confidence to make decisions, take ownership and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Strong planning and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate staffing, prioritise workloads and stay calm under pressure.
- An approachable and fair leadership style, with the ability to develop team leaders, motivate colleagues and hold them accountable.
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office, an understanding of staffing and stock control, and a practical approach to a physically demanding role.
Hours of Work
- This is a full-time role.
- 40 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7, which can include some weekend working.
- Shift patterns vary according to the needs of the operation, but in the main will fall between the hours 8am and 6pm.
