Assistant HR Business Partner

The Assistant HR Business Partner plays a key role in supporting the People Team to deliver a proactive, professional, and responsive HR service across the business. Acting as a trusted partner to managers and employees, this role provides support across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, talent development, organisational change, and HR projects. The successful candidate will be a visible presence on site, building strong relationships and helping to drive positive people outcomes across the organisation.

How you will contribute

  • Support managers and employees with day-to-day HR advice, guidance, and first-line people support.
  • Provide support with employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, and return-to-work processes.
  • Administer and conduct exit interviews, probation reviews, and employee check-ins.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding activities, including offer preparation, right-to-work checks, qualification verification, induction delivery, and compliance checks.
  • Support and oversee onboarding processes to ensure all new starter documentation is completed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate HR systems, employee records, and people data, producing reports and insights as required.
  • Assist with people initiatives designed to improve employee engagement, wellbeing, performance, and development.
  • Support organisational development activities, including talent reviews, succession planning, and leadership development programmes.
  • Coach and support managers through probation reviews, performance management processes, consultations, restructures, and organisational change initiatives.
  • Contribute to local, regional, and global HR projects, ensuring successful implementation and alignment with business objectives.
  • Act as a flexible member of the People Team, providing support and cover across HR administration and HR business partnering activities.
  • Promote DP World values, safety culture, and commitment to excellence in all interactions.

What you will bring

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience desirable.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR role such as HR Administrator, HR Advisor, or Junior HR Business Partner.
  • Experience working with HR systems, people data, and reporting tools.
  • Good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee relations casework and people processes.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience supporting activities across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Experience within a unionised environment would be advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and support stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Adaptable with the ability to support a broad range of HR activities.
  • Strong systems and data management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
