We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Have a degree in an Earth Science-related subject with experience in hydrogeology
- Are confident interpreting hydrogeological data and using a range of IT systems and software
- Enjoy solving problems, thinking differently and working through complex challenges
- Can manage your workload effectively, prioritise competing demands and adapt when priorities change
- Communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Hold a full UK driving licence and are willing to travel across the UK for site work, including occasional overnight stays
About The Role As part of our team, you'll help support the ongoing development of mine water monitoring and management activities, playing an important role in helping us understand and manage environmental risks associated with historic mining.
Working alongside experienced colleagues, contractors and consultants, you'll contribute to projects that protect water environments, support communities and help inform future mine water management strategies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with internal teams, contractors and consultants to gather, analyse and interpret data
- Supporting the development of strategies to manage mine water in coalfield areas
- Providing hydrogeological support across the Coal Mine Water Programme, including the borehole programme
- Developing conceptual models to improve understanding of mine water systems
- Assessing operational performance and identifying opportunities to improve mine water management approaches
- Contributing to the design and development of monitoring networks, abstraction boreholes and solutions to reduce pollution risks from rising mine water levels
- Analysing, interpreting and presenting geoscientific monitoring data
- Undertaking site visits across the UK to support investigations and manage works
