We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Income Management Officer to join our Income Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong administrative, financial and customer service skills who wants to play a key role in supporting tenants, preventing financial hardship and helping to sustain tenancies across Leicester.
As part of our Housing Services team, you will provide vital business support while managing a portfolio of tenants, assisting with rent and garage arrears recovery, and offering advice and guidance to residents. You will work closely with colleagues, partners and external agencies to help customers access the support they need and ensure income due to the Council is collected efficiently and fairly.
This is a part time, fixed term position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (for 12 months to cover maternity leave. Core working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.30pm on a Friday.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Assistant Income Management Officer, you'll play a key role in helping tenants sustain their tenancies while ensuring income due to the Council is collected fairly and effectively. You'll manage a portfolio of tenants, providing practical advice and support, identifying those who may need extra help and connecting them with specialist services.
Alongside working directly with residents, you'll keep the service running smoothly by handling financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, producing reports and preparing legal documentation when required. You'll investigate issues, resolve enquiries, and work closely with colleagues, partners and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

What You’ll Need
We're looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring experience of providing high-quality administrative and business support, alongside strong time-management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
You'll be comfortable working with financial information, processing payments or supporting income collection activities, with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be supporting and advising customers from a wide range of backgrounds, often helping them navigate complex situations with professionalism, empathy and confidence.
You'll also be confident using Microsoft Office and database systems, with the ability to analyse information, solve problems and make sound decisions. Above all, you'll be a proactive team player who enjoys building positive relationships and making a real difference to the people and communities you support.
