Assistant Management Accountant
Blue Legal is partnering with a leading law firm to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join its Finance & Accounts team in Leicester. The successful candidate will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, management accounts and reconciliations, while assisting with month-end and year-end processes and wider finance projects.
The Responsibilities:
- Support month-end reporting, preparing schedules for fixed assets, prepayments and accruals, posting journals and assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring outstanding items are resolved accurately and within required timescales.
- Assist with VAT returns, statutory and regulatory submissions, year-end accounts and tax analysis, ensuring financial records remain complete and accurate.
- Manage designated areas of the purchase and nominal ledgers, reviewing transactions, expenses and payment processes and resolving queries as required.
- Support cashflow monitoring, partner account reconciliations and the preparation of partner payments and drawings.
- Produce financial analysis and management information across areas including WIP, chargeable time, fee targets and departmental performance to support business decision-making.
- Assist with audits, finance projects, systems developments and process improvements, helping to maintain robust financial controls while providing guidance to junior team members where required.

The Candidate:

- AAT qualified, or holding an equivalent or higher-level accounting qualification, with a strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial controls.
- Previous experience supporting month-end and year-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, ledger management, VAT requirements and audit processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills, with the ability to analyse financial data, identify trends and produce accurate management information.
