Assistant Management Accountant (Part Qualified)

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Location: Bootle
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm (Office Based)
Holiday: 25 Days Holiday plus Bank Holidays

The Company

Our client is a well-established and growing business operating within the manufacturing and construction sector. With a strong reputation in its market and continued investment in growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant to support the finance team and further strengthen reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a Part Qualified Accountant seeking exposure to all aspects of finance within a fast-paced SME environment.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and providing accurate financial information to aid business decision-making. Working closely with both finance and operational teams, you'll gain broad exposure across reporting, analysis, reconciliations, budgeting and stock accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare and post accruals, prepayments and journals.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end processes.
  • Produce profit and loss reports and variance analysis.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and stock records.
  • Support stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
  • Produce KPI reports and management information.
  • Process financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Prepare VAT returns and support statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with cashflow reporting and working capital management.
  • Support purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control functions as required.
  • Work closely with operational departments to provide financial insight and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.

About You

  • AAT Qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualification.
  • Previous experience assisting with or preparing management accounts.
  • Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
  • Experience working within a finance function in a commercial environment.
  • Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience within manufacturing, construction products, engineering or a stock-led environment.
  • Exposure to inventory accounting and stock management.
  • Previous experience working within an SME.
