Build your finance career — join BFBS as our new Assistant Management Accountant
We’re looking for a proactive, detail-focused Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team at BFBS. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with financial detail, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation and helping to maintain high-quality financial information. You’ll support month-end reporting, budgeting, variance analysis and strong financial controls, while developing broad management accounting experience across commercial and charitable activities.
What you’ll be doing
- Support monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare variance analysis and support P&L reviews with business teams.
- Process and upload accurate monthly financial data for overseas operations.
- Process intercompany transactions and reconcile balances across entities.
- Maintain accurate Welfare Fund accounts, reporting and supporting records.
- Report project expenditure clearly against budgets.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Support year-end close and external audit activities.
- Contribute to process improvements and provide wider Finance support.

Requirements
You will be part-qualified in AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent qualification, or actively studying towards one of these. Alongside this, you will have a good understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
You’ll be organised and comfortable managing multiple deadlines, with a proactive approach and the confidence to take initiative. You’ll bring strong problem-solving skills, work collaboratively as part of a team, and remain adaptable, professional and reliable in a changing environment.
