The Role's Purpose
This is an Assistant Management Accountant role working across the Plexal Group. The role combines transactional finance oversight, month-end accounting support, management reporting, forecasting inputs, and financial analysis whilst helping to ensure accurate financial information, strong controls, and effective decision-making across all business areas.
What You'll Do
- Process and code financial transactions accurately across relevant business areas, projects, and departments.
- Support the month-end close process, including preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Contribute to the production of monthly management accounts, reporting packs, performance analysis, and supporting commentary.
- Investigate variances against budgets and forecasts, highlighting key findings and supporting follow-up actions.
- Support monthly invoicing cycles, purchase order management, supplier invoice processing, and customer/supplier setup.
- Provide input into cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and forecasting processes across the business.
- Support VAT returns, statutory reporting, audit preparation, and compliance with financial control processes.
- Work with teams across the business to provide clear financial information and support effective budget management.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting accuracy, and ways of working.
- May require business travel across Plexal sites and engagement with teams across the Group.
Due to the nature of this position, our work, and our client engagements, you must be willing and eligible to achieve a minimum of SC clearance.
Your Skills
Essential
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to keep track of multiple tasks and deliverables.
- Analytical, with the ability to think critically and to understand, interpret, and articulate complex reports, requirements, or recommendations.
- Confident using Excel to manage, analyse, and present financial data accurately, including working with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliations.
- Able to handle large datasets, identify variances or inconsistencies, and produce clear outputs.
- Attention to detail to avoid/remove the risk of error, wherever possible, with a strong focus on quality.

Your Experience
Essential
- AAT or similar foundational qualification.
- Working towards ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
- Experience with reconciliations and payment processes.
- General accounting experience, e.g., issuing invoices, allocating payments.
- Experience supporting month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and management reporting.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances or reconciling differences.
- Experience with supplier PO-to-pay compliance, invoice coding, and supporting financial controls.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Dynamics BC.
- Experience with customer billing, project accounting, or operational finance processes across a multi-service business.

- Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 depending on skills and experience.
