Assistant Management Accountant | £32k-£35k | London (Hybrid)
About the Role
Our client, a growing recruitment business, is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone currently studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA to gain broad exposure to management accounts, billings and commission reconciliation, and commercial reporting, with a clear path to Management Accountant as your studies progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support month-end close, working to tight deadlines in line with the business's reporting cycle
- Reconcile billings, contractor pay/margin, and commission data against the finance system
- Prepare variance analysis against budget/forecast, with commentary for desk/branch-level reporting
- Support the year-end audit process, including preparation of schedules and liaising with auditors
- Assist with VAT returns and other statutory/compliance requirements
- Business partner with consultants and desk managers on billings, margin and commission queries
- Support wider finance projects (systems, process improvement, credit control liaison)

Requirements
- Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA, currently studying with exams in progress
- 1–3 years' experience in a management accounts or finance role — recruitment sector experience beneficial but not essential
- Strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail, comfortable with high transaction volumes and tight deadlines
- Proactive and commercially minded, keen to understand the mechanics of a recruitment P&L
