An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join one of the UK’s leading real estate investment, development, and asset management businesses.
With a track record spanning numerous decades, this highly successful organisation has established an enviable reputation for identifying, acquiring, and actively managing premium real estate assets through a highly sophisticated and acquisitive investment strategy. The business continues to grow, creating an exciting opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join its dynamic and collaborative team.
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role within the finance function, supporting the financial management, reporting, and performance analysis of a best-in-class Student Accommodation portfolio across multiple assets and entities.

The Role
You will be responsible for a broad range of management accounting and financial reporting activities, including:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and detailed variance analysis, assessing operational performance against budget and forecast across multiple student accommodation assets and entities.
- Coordinating month-end close, including journal preparation and posting, accruals, prepayments, P&L analysis, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Delivering in-depth financial analysis, interpreting large datasets, and providing meaningful insight into portfolio performance.
- Supporting year-end statutory reporting and external audits, including group VAT requirements.
- Producing property-level arrears and aged debt analysis, highlighting trends and areas requiring action.
- Liaising and partnering with property management and commercial teams to identify cost efficiencies and support revenue-generating strategies.
- Facilitating the financial administration of portfolio council tax and utilities.
- Managing the collection, reconciliation, and return of tenant deposits.
- Playing an active role in the development and implementation of new financial systems, processes, and procedures, helping to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.

About You
The successful candidate will have a degree in Accounting & Finance or hold an AAT Level 3 qualification and above currently undertaking ACCA, ACA, or CIMA studies.

You will have an accountancy background in the real estate, property, or hospitality sectors, exposure to Student Accommodation or PBSA portfolios preferred but not essential.
Moreover, you will have acquired experience either as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Account, Assistant Management, Client, or Property Accountant supporting operational property portfolios through management accounts preparation, journal preparation and posting (prepayments and accruals) with good double entry bookkeeping skills.
Furthermore, you will have good attention to detail, analytical skills with strong Excel, and be fully conversant in the use of pivot tables and VLookUps, etc.
Finally, you will have a calm, friendly demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
