Assistant Management Accountant | Part Qualified (Active Studier) | City of London | Competitive Salary | Insurance Group | Hybrid Working

Experience working in the insurance sector is ESSENTIAL

Your new company

A growing insurance business is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its London finance team. The organisation operates within the specialist insurance market and provides solutions across a diverse range of commercial risks. Following continued growth, the business is strengthening its finance function to support increasing reporting requirements, maintain robust financial controls, and provide high-quality management information. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation and gain broad exposure across insurance accounting, financial reporting, data analysis, and business partnering, and get the opportunity to work with some of the best names in the industry!

Your new role

As Assistant Management Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance Manager and wider business to deliver accurate and timely financial information. The role will have a strong focus on management reporting, insurance data validation, and business partnering with underwriting, claims, and other operational stakeholders. You will gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities, making this an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant who is looking to develop their technical insurance accounting experience within a growing business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing management information covering premiums, commissions, claims, and other key financial performance measures.
  • Extracting and analysing information from underwriting, claims, and reserving systems.
  • Reviewing insurance data to ensure information is complete, accurate, and consistent with the relevant contracts and supporting documentation.
  • Analysing paid and outstanding claims information and investigating potential anomalies within financial and operational data.
  • Partnering with underwriting, claims, and operational teams to respond to queries and provide meaningful financial insight.
  • Preparing and posting non-technical expense journals, ensuring entries are accurate and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Supporting the month-end close process, including general ledger and trial balance activities.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly profit and loss accounts and balance sheets across multiple business areas.
  • Producing performance analysis to support commercial, underwriting, and claims-related decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining financial dashboards and key performance indicators for internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts, regulatory reporting, and tax-related submissions.
  • Assisting with premium, claims, and commission reporting for external insurance partners.
  • Contributing to financial process improvements, automation initiatives, and wider financial transformation projects.
  • Supporting ad hoc reporting, analysis, and project work as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
