IMA is a creative agency that builds brands people want to be part of. We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role supporting the production of accurate management accounts, month-end processes and financial reporting for the business. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and wider teams to ensure timely, business-focused financial information and robust internal controls.

The Role
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the monthly close and management reporting cycle. You’ll prepare reconciliations, assist with accruals and prepayments, maintain fixed asset and intercompany records, and help produce management pack schedules. You will play an important role in ensuring that financial information is accurate, consistent and delivered to agreed timetables.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting month-end close activities including journal preparation, posting and bank reconciliations.
- Preparing account reconciliations (AP, AR, payroll, balance sheet) and investigating reconciling items.
- Assisting with accruals, prepayments and month-end adjustments to ensure management accounts are complete.
- Maintaining fixed asset registers and calculating depreciation entries as required.
- Preparing schedules and analysis for management reporting and ad-hoc finance requests.
- Supporting VAT, expense and supplier invoice processes and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Working with the Finance Manager to improve processes, documentation and accounting policies.
- Supporting audit preparation and responding to information requests from internal or external reviewers.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a management accounting or assistant finance role, ideally within an agency or services business.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end routines.
- Proficiency in Excel for financial analysis (pivot tables, lookups and basic formulas).
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and an organised approach to workload management.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Proactive problem-solver with a willingness to take ownership and improve processes.
- Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/ACCA AAT or working towards a relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.
