Assistant Management Accountant – TEMPORARY POSITION

About The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join us on a temporary basis, providing management accounting cover during a period of absence.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgeting, cashflow reporting, forecasting and variance analysis for our UK and worldwide operations. You will help make sure leadership teams receive accurate, timely financial information, assisting with the monitoring of project budgets, fee income, staff utilisation and cost performance so that projects are delivered profitably and in line with agreed commercial terms. The role offers broad exposure across the business and an opportunity to be a visible member of the team.

What you will be doing
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reporting packs for multiple regions including UK & Germany, liaising with local finance teams to gather information and follow up on queries
- Help compile key monthly metrics such as EBITDA, gross profit and utilisation %, flagging trends and variances for review
- Prepare and post month end journals covering accrued income, payroll, direct costs and overheads, and maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Support the finance & operations team with budget preparation and forecasting, comparing results against budget and preparing clear variance analysis
- Work with colleagues across sales and operations to gather the information needed for reporting, and help explain the numbers behind business decisions
- Contribute to improvements in financial processes, controls and reporting templates as activity levels grow
- Take part in other day-to-day administrative and transactional tasks within the finance department
About You
You are likely to be part-qualified or actively studying towards a professional qualification, with some practical experience gained in either a practice or commercial environment. You will have been involved in month-end routines and enjoy the detail of reconciliations, journals and reporting schedules, while being keen to build a broader commercial understanding. You are comfortable asking questions, following up on outstanding information and working with colleagues outside finance. Well organised and accurate, you manage your workload to meet reporting deadlines, take the initiative to suggest better ways of working, and enjoy being part of a collaborative team.

Experience And Skills Required
- Part-qualified or actively studying towards a chartered qualification
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles; awareness of IFRS an advantage
- Understanding of Xero, ApprovalMax and Mayday desirable
- Experience within a multi-national, listed or multi-entity business would be beneficial
- Exposure to multi-currency transactions or group reporting an advantage
- Good analytical and IT skills, particularly in Excel
- A clear and confident communicator, able to build good working relationships across the business
- Comfortable explaining financial information to non-financial colleagues
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work to deadlines in a flexible and evolving environment
- Keen to improve processes and make them more effective and efficient
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy

Fully office based in Beaconsfield, Bucks
Hours 8am to 5pm (can be flexible)
