- Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes by preparing reports, analysing trends and supporting the finance team with the collection and validation of relevant data.
- Help ensure accurate and timely financial information is available to branch, regional and divisional management through reporting tools, maintaining financial data structures and supporting the integrity of reporting outputs.
- Assist in the production of monthly reporting packs and performance analysis, helping to identify key variances, trends and opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies, ensuring issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
- Build effective working relationships with the Shared Service Centre to support the timely processing of transactions, monitor outstanding issues and maintain the accuracy of financial records.
- Perform financial analysis to support decision-making, including reviewing costs, analysing business performance and providing insight into key financial trends.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function, helping to enhance reporting processes, controls and efficiencies.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for monthly business reviews, management meetings and other finance presentations as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
