Assistant Management Accountant
A London build-to-rent and residential property owner, developer and operator is adding an Assistant Management Accountant to its head office finance team. It is a small team, reporting to the Finance Manager and with the Finance Controller close by, so this is a seat for someone bright and early in their career who wants to learn fast and take on more each year. The role covers month end across a group of UK and Jersey property entities.
What you'll do
- Bank reconciliations and VAT returns across multiple entities, and CIS returns where they apply.
- Review and upload the managing agents' income and expenditure data to the month-end close deadlines.
- Month-end accruals and prepayments, deferred income and budget against actual.
- Prepare payment packs for approval, including the Jersey entities through the administrator.
- Help with the quarterly management packs, intercompany checks, balance sheet reconciliations and the year-end audit.
- Work with the external managing agents and with the asset management, lettings and development teams, including their audit requests.

What you'll bring
- Studying ACCA or CIMA, either just started or working your way through, with a fair few papers still ahead of you. That is deliberate rather than a compromise: the firm is looking for someone to grow into the seat rather than hire in at the end of their studies.
- A good degree, and one to three years of accounting experience.
- Month-end work behind you: bank recs, accruals, journals. More than one entity is a plus.
- Property is ideal (but not essential), whether at a landlord, a developer, a managing agent on service charge or client accounting, or a real estate investment manager.
- Currently London based, strong Excel, and an eye for the process that could run better.
