The Role
We’re looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team in London. This is a hands-on role sitting at the heart of our financial operations, connecting client delivery, project finance, and management reporting across our global sports marketing business. You’ll work closely with our Management Accountant, Financial Controller, Director of Operations, and Client Account teams, taking responsibility for the financial management of client jobs — from initial setup and billing through to revenue recognition, profitability reporting, and job closure.
What You’ll Be Doing:
💰 Billing & Revenue
- Own and maintain billing plans across client projects and retainers
- Prepare and issue client invoices in line with agreed fees, schedules, and project milestones
- Work closely with Client Account teams to secure billing approvals and resolve queries
- Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and in the correct accounting period
- Monitor outstanding WIP and support its timely conversion into revenue

📊 WIP & Project Finance
- Maintain accurate WIP across our portfolio of client accounts
- Track project budgets, actual costs, accruals, and deferred income
- Manage and track purchase orders and third-party project costs
- Track client funds and planned expenditure
- Reconcile financial information across our job management and accounting systems
📈 Reporting & Forecasting
- Provide accurate job-level cost and revenue information to support profitability reporting
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Prepare and post month-end journals as required
- Support revenue forecasting and maintain accurate billing pipeline data
⚙️ Job & Systems Management
- Set up the financial structure of new client jobs and projects
- Support the onboarding of new clients into our finance processes
- Ensure completed projects are fully reconciled before closure
- Help maintain accurate and consistent financial data across Synergist and AccountsIQ

What We’re Looking For
You’ll have relevant hands-on accounting experience, ideally gained within an agency, consultancy, professional services, or other project-based environment.
You’ll also bring:
- A good understanding of billing, revenue recognition, and project-based finance
- Experience supporting reconciliations and month-end processes
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
- The ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams
- A proactive, organized approach and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience with job management and cloud accounting systems; Synergist and AccountsIQ experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential
- CIMA or ACCA qualified or part-qualified would be advantageous
