This Grade II listed pub is full of character, history, and personality, and we’re looking for an ambitious Assistant Manager to join the team and play a key role in its next chapter.
Right in the heart of Cambridge, the Baron of Beef is a much-loved community pub with a loyal customer base, a great atmosphere, and plenty going on. From live music and karaoke to live sport, great pub food, and a well-stocked bar, no two shifts are quite the same.

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be right at the heart of it – helping to create the kind of welcoming experience that keeps our customers coming back.
Qualifications
What's the opportunity?
As Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to help lead the pub, support the team, and drive the business forward.
You’ll be a key part of the management team, leading from the front and making sure every shift delivers great experiences for our customers.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub and lead the business in their absence.
- Lead and motivate the team, creating a positive environment where people can do their best work.
- Bring the Baron of Beef to life by delivering great customer experiences and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Take ownership of your shifts, confidently making decisions and keeping things running smoothly when it gets busy.
- Support the team with training, coaching, and development, helping people grow their skills and confidence.
- Help drive sales and maximize opportunities across our food, drinks, entertainment, and live sport offer.
- Build strong relationships with our customers and help maintain the pub's excellent reputation.
- Champion high standards across service, food, cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
- Bring new ideas and energy to the business and look for opportunities to help us grow.

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who loves hospitality, enjoys leading people, and wants to build a career in pub management.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar hospitality leadership role.
- Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant, bar, or hospitality environment.
- A genuine passion for delivering great customer experiences.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and get the best out of your team.
- The confidence to take ownership, make decisions, and lead a shift.
- A positive, hands-on approach – you’ll be happy getting stuck in alongside your team.
- A commercial mindset and an interest in finding ways to drive sales and grow the business.
- High standards and attention to detail across service, food, safety, and compliance.
- The ambition and motivation to develop your career and progress with Greene King.
- A Personal Licence, or the ability to obtain one.
