We’re looking for an Assistant Manager to join the team at The Kings Head in Upton St Leonards – a welcoming village pub with bags of character, great food and a brilliant outdoor space.
Set amongst the Gloucestershire countryside, The Kings Head is the kind of pub where locals, families, walkers and visitors come together. With a generous food offer, spacious beer garden and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, there’s plenty going on – and we’re looking for someone who wants to be right at the heart of it.
Job Description
What you'll be doing
As Assistant Manager, you'll be a key part of the management team, helping to make sure every guest gets a great experience from the moment they walk through the door.
You'll:
- Lead from the front, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests
- Support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the pub
- Coach and develop your team, helping them be the best they can be
- Keep standards high across service, food, drink and the overall guest experience
- Take ownership when you're on shift and make confident decisions
- Help drive sales, maximise opportunities and keep the pub performing
- Build great relationships with your team and your local customers

Qualifications
What we're looking for
You don't need to have done exactly the same job before. What matters is that you're a natural leader who loves hospitality, knows how to bring people together and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
You'll ideally have experience in a busy pub, restaurant or hospitality environment and be ready to take the next step into a management role.
We're looking for someone who:
- Leads by example and brings energy to every shift
- Cares about great service and attention to detail
- Enjoys developing and motivating people
- Is commercially minded and understands what makes a pub successful
- Can stay calm and organised when things get busy
- Wants to build a career in hospitality
