Role Description
The Assistant Manager role at Franco Manca is a full-time, on-site position based in the City of Edinburgh. The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including supervising team members, coordinating shifts, and ensuring excellent guest service. This role helps maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety, while monitoring stock levels and supporting ordering processes. The Assistant Manager contributes to staff training, performance feedback, and team development, and assists with basic administrative tasks such as reporting, cash handling, and compliance with company policies. The role involves being a visible presence in the restaurant, resolving guest queries, and helping drive a positive, efficient, and inclusive working environment.

- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality supervisory role, with proven ability to lead and support a diverse team.
- Strong customer service skills, with a focus on delivering welcoming, efficient, and consistent guest experiences.
- Good working knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and health and safety practices in a restaurant environment.
- Organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to coordinate shifts, manage multiple tasks, and handle busy service periods.
- Clear and respectful communication skills for interacting with guests, colleagues, and management.
- Numeracy and basic administrative skills, including cash handling, simple reporting, and stock monitoring.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
- Interest in authentic Italian cuisine and seasonal ingredients; experience with pizza or casual dining is an advantage.
- Right to work in the UK; formal hospitality or management training is beneficial but not mandatory.
