We’re looking for an Assistant Manager who wants to make a difference – someone who enjoys leading people, takes ownership and is motivated to build a successful career with Greene King.
The Robin Hood is a food-led Pub & Grill with a great reputation, strong service scores and a loyal customer base. With trade spread throughout the day, a strong bar trade and a stable team, this is a pub with a great foundation – and we’re looking for someone who wants to help us take it to the next level.

The Robin Hood is a welcoming, family-friendly Pub & Grill in Cherry Hinton, just a short drive from Cambridge city centre.
Our extensive menu, from succulent steaks and grilled favourites to stacked burgers and classic pub dishes, means there’s something for every occasion. Customers can enjoy our spacious beer garden, dog-friendly areas, free Wi-Fi and ample parking, including EV charging.
This is a pub that’s all about reputation and repeat business. We’re proud of the great service we currently deliver and want someone who can help us continue to build on that success.
With breakfast from 9am, strong bar trade and customers visiting throughout the day, there’s plenty of variety to keep you engaged.
What's the opportunity?
As Assistant Manager, you’ll be No. 2 in our management team, working closely with the General Manager to help drive the success of the pub.
This is more than just a role supporting the day-to-day operation. We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, motivated and wants to progress.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Lead from the front, setting the standard for great service and creating memorable experiences for our customers.
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of a busy, food-led pub.
- Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the General Manager’s absence.
- Coach, motivate and develop the team, helping people to reach their potential.
- Build on our already strong service scores and help us deliver an outstanding customer experience every time.
- Help drive sales, performance and standards across the pub.
- Create a positive team environment where people enjoy coming to work.
- Build strong relationships with our customers and continue developing our reputation within the local community.
- Bring new ideas and energy to the business as we look for opportunities to grow.

What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who has ambition, energy and a genuine passion for hospitality.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Manager or similar hospitality leadership role.
- Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant or food-led hospitality environment.
- A passion for delivering great customer service and creating experiences that keep customers coming back.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- The confidence to take ownership, make decisions and lead a shift.
- A hands-on approach – you’ll be happy getting stuck in alongside your team.
- A keen eye for detail and high standards across service, food, cleanliness and safety.
- The ability to stay calm, organised and adaptable when things get busy.
- Ambition to progress and make the most of the development opportunities available with Greene King.
- Sufficient spoken and written English to perform the role safely and understand allergen controls.
