Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 + Bonus

Located in Hemel Hempstead, around 24 miles northwest of London, The Pommel Horse is a lively Hungry Horse pub restaurant offering great food, great drinks and great value.
With Cineworld right next door and The Snow Centre nearby, we're perfectly placed to welcome customers looking for a great meal, a few drinks or somewhere to relax after a day out.

What’s the opportunity?
As Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of The Pommel Horse, supporting the General Manager and helping to lead the team, drive standards and grow the business.
You’ll:
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub.
- Take ownership of shifts and confidently lead the team in the GM's absence.
- Lead, coach and develop the team, helping people perform at their best.
- Maintain high standards across service, food, drinks, cleanliness and customer experience.
- Create a fun, welcoming atmosphere where customers want to return.
- Help drive sales and maximise opportunities across food and drink.
- Make the most of busy periods, weekends and seasonal occasions.
- Help maximise trade from the pub's fantastic location next to Cineworld and close to The Snow Centre.
- Build strong relationships with customers and become a familiar face in the local community.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth, consistent service.
- Support with rotas, stock, cash management and other day-to-day operational responsibilities.
- Champion health & safety, licensing and brand standards.
- Coach and motivate the team, creating a positive environment where people enjoy coming to work.
- Bring energy, ideas and enthusiasm to help grow the pub.
- Lead by example and be prepared to get stuck in when things get busy.

What we’re looking for
We're looking for an Assistant Manager or experienced hospitality leader who:
- Has previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar.
- Has experience in a busy pub, restaurant, bar or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Is confident leading a team and taking ownership of a shift.
- Has strong communication skills and knows how to motivate and develop people.
- Takes pride in delivering great customer service.
- Is commercially aware and understands how to drive sales and repeat business.
- Can stay calm, organised and hands-on when the pub gets busy.
- Enjoys working in a lively, fast-paced environment.
- Takes pride in maintaining high operational and service standards.
- Is energetic, proactive and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
- Has a genuine passion for hospitality and creating great customer experiences.
- Wants to develop their skills and progress their career with Greene King.
