Job Description:
Assistant Store Manager – Aardman & Transformers Stores (Fixed term Maternity cover)
The Aardman and Transformers store are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Maternity Assistant Manager to support the operational and guest experience excellence of our destination retail attractions. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside world-renowned brands and play a key role in delivering exceptional service within a dynamic and engaging environment.
About Us
Event Merchandising operates multiple branded retail operations across digital and physical retail platforms.
Aardman is more than an award-winning animation studio, they are the creators of much-loved characters that have entertained generations of families and fans. From Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep to Morph and Chicken Run, their stories are built on character, storytelling and comedy.
Transformers is a global toy phenomenon spanning over 40 years, with a movie franchise exceeding 8 live action and animated theatrical releases.
The Role
Reporting into the Regional Retail Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will support all aspects of daily operations, ensuring that the store runs efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality and guest service. You will be a resilient and self-motivated retailer, comfortable working with a large team, able to adapt and react to change and trading pressure with energy and enthusiasm. The role requires a proactive and hands-on leader who can inspire and develop the team while maintaining a positive and professional working environment.

Ideally, you will live no further than 30-45 minutes away from the store and be committed to working flexible shift patterns to support your store’s operation as required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management team in overseeing daily operations, ensuring operational effectiveness and adherence to company standards.
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
- Assist in managing financial targets, and performance metrics.
- Supports staff scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
- Uphold the brand values and ensure the operations consistently reflect the quality and integrity of the Aardman and Transformers brands.
- Control, monitor and record all stock movements, losses and adjustments related to the store and to keep shrinkage levels to a minimum, including proactive stock loss prevention.
- Implement and maintain company merchandising standards as per latest guidance and to show you are commercially aware and driven to push sales and achieve targets set.
- Manage the proper use and care of instore technology to ensure store processes can be followed.

About You:
- An effective leader with retail management / senior supervision experience in a fast-paced retail environment is essential.
- A positive and people focused manager with experience of leading, developing, and motivating teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Confident decision-maker with a focus on guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Flexible, positive, and adaptable to the demands of a fast-paced, family-focused environment.
